MDC is excited to announce our staff has grown by one! We sat down with our new staffer and asked her to tell our owners a little bit about herself, so please meet Kristen Jones, MDC’s new Director of Corporate Partnerships!

What about MDC made you excited to join the company?

MDC has a rich history of delivering smart, meaningful, and innovative solutions to its credit union and CUSO owners, and the company continuously drives positive change within the industry. It’s also a particularly exciting time at MDC, and I’m energized to join such a well-respected organization. I’m proud to be a part of a dynamic team of forward-thinking individuals with a shared passion to help credit unions face the challenges of today and expand the possibilities of tomorrow.

Tell us about the role you’ll be fulfilling at MDC.

I’m thrilled to support and expand the reach of MDC. As director of corporate partnerships, I’m responsible for developing an alliance strategy focused on both establishing new relationships and strengthening existing ones to drive meaningful growth and value for MDC and its owners. In this capacity, I have the unique opportunity to engage with credit unions, CUSOs, and external resources, ranging from start-ups to large-scale enterprises, to identify and advance our abilities to collaborate, drive measurable impact and outcomes, and unlock shared value.

You have a long history with credit unions. Please tell us about your background in the industry.

I’ve been involved in the credit union industry for over 21 years, holding various leadership positions across sales, marketing, lending, product management, insurance, and business development. I became a credit union advocate and evangelist at a young age, growing up in a household with both parents engaged in credit union membership. My early introduction to the cooperative movement has played an important role in shaping my value of service and community.

Looking at the different work MDC is doing now, what excites you most?

MDC has numerous ongoing projects, so it’s difficult to choose just one! That said, technological disruption is affecting all corners of business, and financial services is no exception. MDC’s work in the fintech and automation spaces is delivering real value to credit unions, and I’m eager to see where MDC can take its network with those initiatives. To have the opportunity to be involved in this new era of innovation is exciting and inspiring!

What are some fun facts about yourself you’d like to share with our owners before our upcoming 2019 Summer Owner Meeting?

  • The Star-Spangled Banner makes me tear up.  Every. Single. Time.
  • I always stop to pick up coins I randomly find on the street. I feel gratitude and abundance whenever I find one. And yes, when it’s a penny, I secretly recite: “Find a penny, pick it up and all day you’ll have good luck.”
  • My love for bacon and dark chocolate runs deep. As I understand it, both are gluten-free. (It’s all about the small wins.)

Kristen and the rest of MDC’s staff can’t wait to see you at the upcoming MDC 2019 Summer Owner Meeting on August 5-7 at the beautiful Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Chicago!
